What is ECU flashing?

Posted by Ryan Scott on

The ECU (Engine Control Unit) manages the fuel and ignition advancement. Along with other parameters for your engine to run under the current conditions for maximum potential. The ECU does through monitoring your inputs to the throttle position, rpm, gear position, air temperature coolant temperatures and more variations depending on the capabilities and limitations of your software.

OEM ECU's are far from optimal and, highly regulated and are over developed to restrict your bike.  To allow for a wide range of riding styles EDR PERFORMANCE optimizes your ECU through setting changes and loading different fuel maps into the ECU We account for fuel quality and operational conditions. The result of this is often a surprising outcome and rideability that will make you smile.  OEM ECU's are compromised and this results in suboptimal performance. Significant improvements can will be achieved through correcting the stock ECU's deficiencies and tuning the engine to take full advantage of it's potential.

ECU Flashing is the process of updating the software that runs on your bikes ECU. This allows you to change various maps and settings in your ECU and significantly improve the performance of your engine. The EDR PERFORMANCE ECU FLASH software works with your bike to allow the maps and flash to changes to your bike's ECU.

We have 21 + years of championship winning race results from drag racing to road racing, 10's of thousands of dyno charts, success stories (from both individuals and professional tuners), and pictures of some of the bikes already experiencing the benefits of a tuned ECU.
